I check this site regularly and really enjoy the posts that author Nichelle Strzepek puts together. They are thoughtfully done and you can tell that she really wants to communicate with her readers and share the wealth of information that she has collected throughout the years. PURE: Public Urban Ritual Experiment

pure Have you ever heard of PURE? Those who are into belly dance probably have, but it may be new to other members of the dance community. PURE stands for Public Urban Ritual Experiment, and according to the organization, it is a “collective of dancers and drummers who take music and dance out to the community for the purposes of healing and peace”.

You can find groups of dancers and musicians performing in many communities nationwide. New York has a very strong PURE presence, as does the Chicagoland area, but there are also groups in Michigan, Florida, California, Texas, Virginia and more.
