New Magazine: TangoZapa

December 21, 2009 by 4dancers

I recently heard about a new magazine that will be coming out in March 2010…it’s called TangoZapa. It bills itself as a tango culture and lifestyle magazine, covering everything from the dancers to the shoes they wear–and much more. You can sign up for a free digital version of the mag to see what it’s all about. (And if you are handy with a camera you can even enter their photo contest (until Jan 10th)…you might win a trip to Buenos Aries!)

Dance writers may be interested in contributing to this magazine. Accepted articles pay $100 through PayPal. The submission guidelines are listed in detail on the site.

Review: MaxBlogPress For Ads

December 20, 2009 by 4dancers

MaxBlogPress just made my life so much easier. I was searching for a good ad program that didn’t require a lot of technical knowledge, and tried two others before coming across this one. It is so simple–just add your banner image, add the link and decide where you want to place it. That is about it. I had absolutely no problems with it and I was up and running in just a few minutes.

If you have a dance blog and are looking for a simple solution to selling ad space, I would say give this one a try. It worked well for me!

From PBS: Lesson Plan Help For The Dance Classroom

December 13, 2009 by 4dancers

I found this while searching for lesson plan help…figured that classroom teachers could use another resource, and this one is a good one, depending on the age group you teach. PBS has put together a comprehensive plan for introducing students to the roots of Modern Dance in America.

There is a radio story to listen to as well as plenty of ideas for discussion, and you will even find activity sheets that you can print out. Use everything they have provided–or customize your own lesson plan based on some of the ideas from here.

December 12, 2009 by 4dancers

Since I just featured a school from the state, I thought I might add a job opportunity from there as well. The University of North Carolina School Of The Arts is searching for a Ballet Faculty member for the School of Dance. The appointment begins in September of 2010, and the review for the postion will start on January 15, 2010. If you are interested, see the job description for more details.
