Courtney Blair Meyers – Intern

Courtney Blair Meyers
Courtney Blair Meyers

Intern Courtney Meyers received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in English from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in December of 2012. Twenty three years old, Courtney has spent her life surrounded by dance and everything that goes along with it. From age 8 to age 18, Courtney was involved in dance competitions and conventions throughout the southeast region of the United States. She traveled with Jill’s Company Dancers, a group selected to compete and represent Jill’s Studio of Dance, located in Huntsville, Alabama. Exposed to a variety of diverse choreographers and dance styles, Courtney credits her instructor, Jill McNew with providing her such a unique opportunity to cultivate passion and appreciation for the art of dance.

In addition to competitive studio dance, Courtney has experience dancing on the collegiate level as well. Courtney was chosen to represent Auburn University on the college dance team, Tiger Paws. Courtney was selected as a member of the team, both in 2007 when she auditioned, and in 2008. In 2008, Courtney traveled with Tiger Paws to Orlando, Florida where she represented Auburn University nationally, competing with the dance team at Universal Dance Association’s National competition.

In 2009, Courtney chose to shift her focus toward academics, returning home to finish college. While she worked on and off at a local dance store from her sophomore year in high school to her sophomore year in college, Courtney had always devoted the majority of her time and energy to dance. Upon attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Courtney split her time between working and taking classes. Courtney was employed for approximately 8 years at Bloom Dance & Activewear, where she learned how to fit pointe shoes professionally, among other things. This experience gave Courtney the opportunity to experience a different side of dance and its consumer market.

Courtney is passionate about expressionism, surrealism, articulation, learning and faith. Above all else, Courtney is grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn from the opportunity presented her by the 4dancers community!
