Betterfly–An Online Dance Resource

December 22, 2010 by 4dancers

As a dance professional, managing your online presence is part of the overall picture when it comes to marketing yourself. There are many ways to do this–you can have your own website, or you can develop a presence on sites that focus on dance. Today we asked a representative from Betterfly to talk with 4dancers readers about their site and how it can serve those who work in the dance community…

1. What is Betterfly and how did the idea for this site come about?

Betterfly makes it unbelievably easy and efficient to find the right tutor, coach, stylist, trainer or anyone who can help someone be better at something. At the same time, by giving them their own mini-website and a set of tools to simplify their business, Betterfly helps service providers like dance teachers to get new students and market themselves online.

Joshua Schwadron (the founder) always believed that we are our biggest assets and we should invest in ourselves. But he always found it extremely difficult to find the right people to help him. Betterfly is a response to that challenge.

2. What is the dance section of Betterfly focused on?

Dance is one of the most active of the 300+ categories on the site. This page is focused on helping new and continuing dance students to find the best dance teacher for them. By focusing solely on individual teachers rather than entire dance schools or studios, we allow the students to see past the good name of a dance school and see “inside” to the teachers there- which helps them determine the real value for themselves. Betterfly helps them to find the right dance teacher, whether the teacher works for a company or independently.

3. How can dance professionals get involved with Betterfly?

Betterfly’s a really easy way for dancers to take their amazing skills, share them, and even make money doing what they love. It’s as easy as creating a page. At the same time, even professional dancers have areas where they can improve, so if they’re looking for dance classes, or as part of our new features, someone to practice with, Betterfly is an easy way to find them.

We also always encourage ideas from the community-just shoot us an email!

4. Is there a cost for joining?

Nope! Betterfly’s a completely free service for students to search, and for instructors to build their web presence and get new clients.

5. What is the benefit for dance professionals in terms of being involved with Betterfly?

Betterfly offers dance professionals a lot of online exposure, both through the personalized search on Betterfly, and on search engines like Google and Bing. People come to Betterfly looking for dance teachers.Whether they’re just starting out or they’re seasoned teachers, dance professionals can make use of Betterfly’s tools to manage their business, reach new students and expand their brand on the internet.
